Father Felix Duval

This is an excerpt from my fifth chapter, wherein I am incredibly cheap.
In fact, I suggest you don't even read it, 'cause it sucks. I'm just putting this up here as a testament to my cheapness.
( In nómine Patris, et Fílii, et Spíritus Sancti. )

Captain Timothy Pascal

Tim is not the second major character I introduce, but he is the second I focus on. I have about 3,000 words that I either wrote out of order or am intending on disregarding completely. It's kind of funny.
Weighing in at 4,565 words, my complete second section, wherein I am bad with names, ramble excessively, know next to nothing of the Marines and even less of life aboard a military vessel, and sneak in a tiny bit of plot at the end.
12,000 words, and I'm finally starting on the plot. I rock hardcore.
( On the horizon, the last traces of purple... )

As of 11/6, I had approximately 7000 words. That put me about 3000 words behind, since I should have been breaking into the quintuple-digits by then.
I've just switched points of view, and I added a few new characters, so I hope to be getting with the program sometime soon.

Dolores Santiago
Nov. 3rd, 2005 | 05:47 pm
Dolores is the first character I introduce. She's a Hispanic Texan, a second-class citizen in the segregated Texas society, working at a (fictional) sweatshop in Galveston, the Lone Star Shirtwaist Factory. Sha'p, I suck at names.
I should warn you that this takes place in an alternate history, so I gave myself a little artistic license. I can afford to do that, you see, since I'm using an alternate history, where things might be a little different. Also, Texas is its own country. That's part of the alternate history.
ALTERNATE HISTORY!
Here are the first 900 words or so (915, I think).
( Dolores hunched over the machine... )
By the way, people, shout out to DBake, the only real-life friend-type person I could find also posting bits of their NaNo online.

Hello.

This is Loren's NaNoWriMo journal. She'll be posting bits of her November Novel here, whenever she feels like it.
Don't expect the quality to be all that great. Remember, she has to fit 50,000 words into one month.
